What Race compares
Race shows whole-race figures and a separate section for each leg. Compare boats against the reference boat; signed differences show gains and losses where the value supports them.
Start with the whole-race section to find the meaningful gap. Then expand the leg that contains it. This avoids treating a good result over one short interval as the explanation for the entire race.
Choose a focused set of values
Open Values and select the metrics that support the coaching question. The default set is SOG, VMG and ATW. Race also has prepared measures for directional and next-mark distance, next-mark VMC, manoeuvre counts and start advantage.
The values picker is staged. Apply commits a changed metric selection; dismissing it keeps the committed selection. A useful first pass is speed and VMG, then add a distance or manoeuvre measure only after locating the leg where it matters.
Expand the evidence you need
Use Compact All to reduce the whole-race and every-leg sections, or Expand All to show them. You can also open or close an individual section. Collapse state is kept for the current app session; it does not change the race or log.
Set up a readable comparison
Race Settings provides Values, Font size, Number thickness and Text colors. Boat colors preserve visual identity; White / black makes a neutral text treatment. These settings are staged on native: Done saves the draft and Cancel discards it. Do not assume the web settings popup has the same cancel behaviour.
Race presentation changes are separate from the fleet roles and metrics themselves. They do not change boat identity, race metadata, the selected time range or the underlying calculation.
Export and recover
Export Race screenshot makes a full-content PNG and native uses the system share sheet. Web and desktop visibly expose HTML as well. HTML export is not currently available on iPad, iPhone or Android.
Refresh prepares the Race result again. If sections are empty, check that a compatible race/leg structure is open before changing the metrics.
